Karnali Province is one of the seven federal provinces of Nepal, established in 2015 after the promulgation of the new constitution. It is situated in the mid-western region of Nepal and is known for its rugged terrain, diverse cultures, and rich biodiversity. The province is named after the Karnali River, which flows through its territory. Karnali Province is characterized by its mountainous landscape, with parts of the Himalayas within its boundaries. It covers an area of approximately 24,453 square kilometers (9,441 square miles) and is bordered by Tibet (China) to the north, Gandaki Province to the east, Sudurpashchim Province to the west, and Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand states of India to the south.
